> I am new to the forum, but was pleased to see Susan Dunlap's message. I was a bit younger than you (1968) but you had a great leadership role for me. I too had a wonderful memory of a beautiful girl in my cabin who was from Venezuela. I have pictures but her name eludes me,
My son now attends Keewaydin and after dropping him off this year I drove the three hours to Lake Willoughby. I stood on the beach with my feet in that freezing water and imagined the canoe races of the marathon, gunneling, my attempts at watersking, climbing Mt. Pisgah with Ted Handy. I started singing camp songs - yes the few people on the beach thought me odd, The grounds have changed as I knew they would - but "the whispering trees bending far down ore the lake" are still there. I hope someday you can resturn to the Songa on Dunmore. Enjoy your memories. |
